I am sure every adult in Australia would have heard about the million dollar James Hardy asbestos lawsuit. Honestly I was not really aware of how serious the effects of long term exposure to asbestos is until I read about and watched on TV news about the lawsuit.

Since then I am aware that exposure to asbestos may cause malignant Mesothelioma, a form of very serious cancer affecting vital organs in the body.

In the past asbestos was widely used especially in construction of dwellings. I can’t bear to imagine the billions of people in my parents generation who had been living under the roof of a home filled with asbestos.

Thank goodness the dangers have since been found and the public made aware and educated about it. I will be sure to educate my daughter about this too.
