Wet Spring

September 3rd, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Spring didn’t kick off beautifully. In fact it had been either too windy, gloomy, cloudy, showers and rain and will be so for the next 5 days. I must say it is great for the garden. Hopefully we will see more nice days with the occasional rainy days every now and then.

Speaking of garden, I broke the garden hose connector. Until we get a replacement, I am using a bucket to water the plants. Imagine carrying a bucketful of water x a minimum of 20 turns walking to & fro the tap. And that is only for the back portion of my garden, excluding the side of the house and the frontyard.

Rainy days

July 27th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Back to gloomy days! No fun at all. Kids don’t come out to play, everyone stays home after school and after work. *Yawn*, only nice thing to do in such miserable cold and wet weather is to eat something hot, fried, crispy or steamboat, yum! Time to get fat!

Ideally, I should be napping every afternoon in this kind of weather perfect for sleeping but strangely I didn’t. However I believe that if I weren’t a mother yet, I would be napping every single afternoon on rainy days *LOL*

Somehow, when my kid naps, I would take the opportunity to do other things around the house – goodness knows why I never run out of things to do!

Dislike Winter

July 8th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

I mean I am alright with Winter season, I love the cold than the terrible sauna heat of Summer. However, my two dears don’t react to the cold season too well. They fall sick easily.

When either of them are sick, I am the nurse. Being the everyday maid is taxing enough.

Can’t wait for Spring in September!

Wet Wednesday

July 7th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Sigh, another wet, gloomy and cold week ahead. I feel sooo lazy to take DD out to the library and playground in such depressing weather. Firstly well it is depressing, secondly, the risk of getting a chill, cough and cold is higher for kids.

Really hope to see more sunny weather this Winter. Rain should come more often during Summer instead. Who am I? The weather controller?

Sunny days are here to stay

June 15th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Finally, the sun is out to play and hopefully to stay. I love winter when the days are sunny with no wind. Day time temps of 18C-19C in winter with full sun is soooooo perfect for outdoors. Fortunately I got to spend a beautiful day outdoors with DD this morning till afternoon.

Hope tomorrow will be another beautiful day. It’s just so weird that the month of May was really wet. It rained almost every single day or it was gloomy all the time.  I wonder if that’s what’s it like to live in UK.

Winter’s here

June 1st, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Today markes the official start of Winter for us. It’s a gloomy and wet start though. Actually been like this throughout the month of May alone. So far we have not had to use the heater yet, thank goodness! As DD is now a kid, she is able to withstand cold more and we all wear layers of clothes at home to keep warm. Socks are a must too.

I remember when DD was an infant and toddler, she’d get up at 5am or 6am in the mornings, gosh! So cold at those hours, I always had to turn on the heater for at least an hour to warm up the house. But now that DD only wakes at 7.30am onwards, by which time the coldest part of the morning is usually past, there is no need for the heater, phew! Else our electricity bill will sky rocket.

Keep warm

May 12th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Winter is approaching and I hope everyone’s keeping warm especially those who are prone to catch the cold *touch wood*. Ever since we had our own car, I no longer dread going out during winter as we’d be all warm and snug in the car itself. Often our destinations are to the mall, once you’re in there, it’s no longer cold.

I remember those times when we had to rely on taking the buses and trains – oh my goodness, the cold was unbearable especially when it got windy. Had to wear so many layers but good thing I was 70% of my current weight back then, so it was easy to wear layers and a nice coat on top of it, without feeling all squished up and tight like how I’d feel now *sigh*.

Zany weather

April 18th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

I hate Sydney’s weather. Just when I thought Autumn temps are finally here, the rest of this week will be a high of 28C, sunny! Are we still in Summer, mother nature? But as with every year, it doesn’t really start to cool down until May and we’ve got about two weeks to go!

Sorry but hot weather really makes me moody and short tempered. Anyway I hope the weather will be beautiful for this Saturday’s Community Autumn Party, yay!

Brrr

April 13th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Speaking of a perfect day yesterday, today is so chilly. Have to wear a pullover indoors and a jacket outdoors eventhough it is sunny. Times like this it is nice to be outdoors to enjoy the warmth of the sun on your face ?

However, it is a tad too cold for indoors. Well I guess Autumn is finally here … what a long wait! Another 1.5 months to go before Winter officially kicks in.

Perfect day

April 12th, 2010 Cake Posted in Weather Comments Off

Nice sunny day at a high of 23C! It is so nice to be in the sun at this temp, so perfect! But not to stand directly under the sun without shades and hats though as the sun still burns the skin.

It’s middle of April and from now on I think it’s cooling down to Autumn temp – I hope! (eventhough Autumn started in March! Hopefully the weekend will be warm enough to hit the beach again.
