Free Swing Sets

August 9th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

We have a small backyard and thus we didn’t have any plans to put in any outdoor toys like cubby houses, see saws, etc. However, our kind neighbour has offered to give us their wooden swing sets as their daughters have already outgrown them.

As tempting as it may be, we had to decline their generous offer as our backyard is far too narrow for something like that though I am sure DD would be thrilled for the first two weeks. Sorry DD, perhaps if we had a bigger backyard then we’d not hesitate to get that swing for you.

Skipped swimming lesson

July 9th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

DD had to skip her swimming lesson yesterday due to coughing and diarrhoea. Poor her, been ill almost weekly. I am not quite surprised that she catches a cold easily because she is so very stubborn in not wanting to keep warm.

She dislikes wearing sweaters and socks at home which is a must to keep warm in the home. Gosh, my girl is really stubborn. Can you see I’m steaming from my ears?

My furniture

June 23rd, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

To my horror, I discovered some ball point pen markings on our dark chocolate leather 3 seater lounge this morning. There is no mistake who the culprit was.

I was furious but not too furious as she already scratched the 1 seater leather lounge several months ago with her sharp fingernails. I guess this is to be expected when you have a kid, one kid who has no other kid to play with at home.

Anyway thank goodness, the ball point pen ink came off easily with just a wet wipe!

Tummy bug

June 5th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

My poor DD has her second episode of tummy bug since the last major one which happened almost two years ago (that was trauma). Thank goodness this time round it is just a small mild one compared to the last one.

She’s lost her appetite but fortunately fever has subsided and she’s begin to nibble a little bit of her favourite food ie toast with vegemite. She even didn’t want her milk which on normal days, she would gulp down within minutes.

Stubborn girl

June 2nd, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

Dd is being very stubborn in not wanting to go to bed at a reasonable time. She’d stay up as late as midnite if we’d let her and you won’t even see her yawn or show any sign of tiredness, gosh! Not only that, she’d wake up at least once throughout the nite just to come to our room and make one of us accompany her to the bathroom.

Because of her late nights and constant waking up in the wee hours or the morning, she falls sick so often! Hope she will grow out of this habit soon as I haven’t had a good night’s sleep for several months now.

Shopping with DD

June 1st, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

Sometimes after taking DD to the library and swimming classes, we would both head over to the mall opposite and go to Kmart so she could get her fix on playing the toys on the shelves there *LOL*.

On top of playing the toys, the loves to check the prices on any items and place them at the barcode scanner which she does pretty well by now. Then you have the usual, she’d insist on swiping the card at the check out and pressing the check or savings and OK button *rolls eyes*

Oh well but it’s all good. I just love going shopping with DD.

Good day with DD

May 13th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

Yes it’s another good half a day spent with DD outdoors. First to her swimming lesson, then let her play in the pool with her little friends and off we went to Kmart and Coles to buy something and then had takeaway noodles for lunch. No fuss during the entire time including shopping. Whereas if DH was around, gosh she’d whine and begged to be carried by DH, even cries … just like yesterday when the three of us were in the mall after her doctor’s appointment.

DH and I both agreed that DD behaves much better when alone with me as long as DH is out of sight. I guess DD sure knows how to wrap Daddy around her little fingers.

Mon & Tue

May 11th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

These are the two days I get 5.5 hours off from DD *LOL*. She’d be at daycare/preschool. It’s a good break for me eventhough I don’t think I have let a day of these past without doing anything at home. There is always something to do. I would usually sweep and mop the floor on one of these days so that DD won’t be around to run while the floor is wet (believe me, she does this ALL the time and then slips and falls and wail!).

Ironing, cooking and the usual chores which are not difficult nor tiring to do as the “obstacle” (DD) isn’t around *LOL* However I also look forward to Wed & Thurs when DD and I would both go out after her library and swimming sessions, usually shopping at Kmart or grocery shopping at Coles and around the mall. The time being with her outdoors really makes me happy especially when I know we won’t be able to do this on weekdays when she starts public school next year.

Playground

April 18th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

We went to the playground after visiting Kellyville Display Homes this afternoon. Unfortunately it was already getting cold when we got to the playground.

Nevertheless DD seemed to enjoy herself very much and the playground had a fair amount of kids (compared to a year ago when there were hardly people who’d go there). We were prepared to let her play for at least an hour but she let out a quick shiver and we know that usually meant she needs to wee wee.

So off we went to the nearest place that had toilets ie Coles. After that we had Maccas for dinner – sigh, always regret after having that!

Big words for a little girl

April 14th, 2010 Cake Posted in Darling Daughter Comments Off

Like they say, being parents brings you to a whole new level. We never stop discovering new things everyday and learning as we go along. Now that my girl is of school going age, she asks many questions that often neither of us could easily explain.

For example, if we read a book that has the word spirometer, she’d ask what is it and what it’s for and why it is needed. Other times she’d ask about definitions of certain words which is so difficult to explain to a 4 year old without using complicated words.

Can’t wait till she grows up more and able to use the online dictionary herself :P
