Camera upgrade?

June 24th, 2010 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics Comments Off

For the longest time I had been toying with the idea of getting a better Canon camera, a DSLR perhaps? But then again, with my time constraint and DD not being cooperative when photographed, I’d only be wasting a good camera if I don’t get to use it often.

Frankly, I have no desire to snap scenic shots (hardly get to travel to scenic spots!) and all those artsy type of photos. The only reason I’d love to have a better camera is because I love snapping photos of DD as she grows. Coupled with my limited PS knowledge, there is a lot to be played with when you have good photos.

So I guess I should wait a little while longer.

What to buy dad for Christmas

October 11th, 2009 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics Comments Off

Are you stuck with the same problem like millions of people around the world when it comes to “what to buy dad for Christmas”? Well, Christmas is just around the corner. I can imagine electronics and gadget stores will be doing brisk business.

I am unsure about others but if my kid were to ask me what to get her daddy for Christmas, I’d prolly say a PS3 and he would be absolutely thrilled!

Hey it is actually not a bad idea, it is better for him to stay home and play that than to be hanging out with his mates eh?

Getting another LCD

February 7th, 2009 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics Comments Off

We are considering buying a cheap LCD monitor for DD as we realize that she could now manouvre, click and point the mouse cursor more precisely. We seldom let her play on the PC but DH had occasionally showed her some educational games sites for toddlers and guided her to play them. He’s prolly only done that less than ten times.

I think she’s gotten her mouse manouvering practice from trying to log onto our PCs when we lock the screen. She’d point the mouse onto the password field and simply typed anything, then clicked onto the “logon” button. Many times she’d insist on taking control over our mouse while me and DH were using the PCs and she’d point the cursor to any particular objects she wanted us to look at. That was when we decided that she is ready for her own PC.

We’ve already got a spare running system but only a CRT monitor which is too bulky to be placed onto another extra table in the study. DH has decided to source for a cheap LCD monitor for her as it will also be less strain to her eyes.

Upgrade this n that?

November 25th, 2008 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics Comments Off

No way … yet! DH used to tell me how much he wanted to upgrade our existing CRT TV to a flat screen HDTV. I must admit, each time he talked about upgrading our TV or other electronic devices, I felt a little angry because I think it is a total waste of money in our current situation.

Firstly we hardly ever get to watch a TV programme in peace, not even the news since the birth of our little girl. The TVs in our home are now mainly used for our little girl to watch her kiddy and educational shows. Secondly we can still safely wipe off handprints from the CRT screen compared to a flat screen plasma or lcd. Thirdly, we are not rich.

Lastly, I am a person who do not believe in having the latest gadgets or electronics. As long as they work, it’s fine for me, depending on what the items are.

Nokia N95 8GB

July 11th, 2008 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics No Comments »

At one stage, DH was very determined to buy me a new mobile phone which is very tiny in size, just what I like. Unfortunately the colour I wanted ie red was unavailable. We stopped looking then as I kept telling him I don’t need a new mobile phone. My current Nokia monotone mobile phone (huh? Who in the world still use that?? ME!) does the job.

If I were still working in the corporate world, I would love to get myself a Nokia N95 8GB . Unfortunately my 9-5 days were loooong gone. These days, anything for this Aunty will do as long as it works.

Every guy loves a PS2

June 10th, 2008 Cake Posted in Games/Electronics No Comments »

With girls, it is generally pretty easy to buy gifts for but it is quite the opposite when it comes to boys. First on my mind for boys would be some games console. I think what would make the boys happy be it young or old (like my dear hubby) would be a PS2 for their birthdays or at any time of the year!
